Listen: egg whites are no yolk

Brand new research, released today by Two Chicks for National Cholesterol Month, highlights Brits perceptions around eggs and their effect on our health.

According to the research, a third (33%) of Brits don’t believe eggs are healthy, with 30% unaware that eggs are a good source of protein and only 18% aware that eggs are low in carbohydrates. The public are also misinformed about the nutritional make-up of eggs. The part of an egg highest in fat is the yolk, yet less than a third (32%) of the public believe this to be the case.

Although Brits have an appetite for them, it seems our lack of education on the best ways to consume egg whites is holding us back. Egg whites are actually fat and cholesterol free, whilst containing the bulk of the egg’s protein. Lowering fat intake is especially important for those with higher cholesterol, yet near to half (42%) of the public feel that just eating the egg white is a waste of the yolk.

Aston spoke to Alla Ouvarova and Anna Richey from Two Chicks who were on hand to offer some yummy tips on how to implement egg whites into our diet along with an explanation of the impact this will have on our health.
