Britain’s “keep calm and carry on” culture, coupled with lengthy wait times for treatment and lack of access to healthcare, is having a detrimental impact on the nation’s health – according to the latest survey.

New research by Simplyhealth shows an estimated 2.7 million UK adults suffer with a minor health concerns, such as the cold, stomach complaints and headaches, every single day. However, just 16% visit the doctor when they feel unwell and the average Briton will wait for over two weeks to book an appointment with their doctor about a minor health concern.

The research comes as Simplyhealth launches a new cash plan and app which provides instant access to GPs, counsellors and physiotherapists and enables customers to claim cashback on everyday healthcare treatments, from prescription medication, physiotherapy, podiatry and more.

Aston spoke to Dr Dawn Harper, TV doctor, GP and Simplyhealth ambassador to discuss the research and explain why the “keep calm and carry on” culture in Britain is detrimental to our health.
