O2 Network Failure

Are you an O2 mobile user who is suffering network problems?

As mentioned on Drivetime this afternoon, O2 customers have lost voice and data services across the UK due to a problem with the network, after experiencing issues at around lunchtime today, with no explanation of the exact cause. GiffGaff and Tesco Mobile users are also affected as they also use O2’s masts.

So what is the cause of the problem? O2 are saying that the problem is not based on Geography as some mobile users still have connections at the same location as others who don’t.

This afternoon O2’s website was displaying this message:
“Those customers affected will have difficulty making or receiving calls, sending texts or using data. We are sorry for any inconvenience. Our engineers are dealing with the problem as a priority and we hope to restore full service as soon as possible.”

If you are an O2 customer and are affected by this, then you can keep track of the developments via O2’s service status page. However, due to high demand, the page is likely to be slow loading up and could sometimes fail to appear. Many users have been writing messages on social networking site Twitter to complain about the issue.
