As promised details of the chicken auction!
Poultry auction launched
A POULTRY auction is winging its way to Thurrock for the first time.
The South Essex Poultry Auctions at Cowdrey Hall, in London Road, West Thurrock, are being launched by the Wickford-based Timberlog Poultry.
Chrissy Blunt, from the auctions, said: “We’re a group of like-minded individuals who enjoy one thing – chickens – and we’re hoping to encourage more people to take up keeping them as a hobby.”
It is hoped the auctions will offer a place for established breeders and back yard keepers to buy, sell and get advice about their pastime.
Chrissy added: “We’ll welcome more or less anything to do with poultry at our auctions.
“Those spare drinkers or feeders you no longer use, that coop that’s now too small and don’t forget any hatching eggs!”
The first auction will take place from 10am at Cowdray Hall, 560 London Road, in West Thurrock, on Sunday, April 10.
Sellers can set up between 9am and 10am, doors open for viewings from 10am and the auction starts at 11am. Refreshments are available.
Entry is £1 per adult, children get in free and there will be a discount for buyers and sellers.
