It was nice to hear from a fellow Old Git (and I know he is “old” because I went ot his 50th birthday bash in January!) and former Basildonian Micky B last weekend. As always we exchanged gossip and news from the soul DJ world, but his main reason for calling was to let me know about the “Soul On The Harbour” event he had just been involved in down in Ramsgate. I’d given it a couple of plugs on the show and when Mick spotted a couple of new faces at the gig and got chatting, it turned out they had been in Essex at another soul night on the Saturday and fancied making a weekend(er) of it by heading across to Kent for the Sunday. Seems they listen to my little old radio show and found out about it on there (with a little extra help from Facebook of course!) – not only that they actually live in STEVENAGE !
It never fails to amaze me some of the feedback I get on a Monday and certainly keeps me on my toes on air – just a shame I was so knackered for this show and sounded like a right dozy Old Git ! Luckily, I think you’ll find the tunes are up to scratch…
