Listen: the science of sound

It’s been a long and difficult year with a whopping 95% of Brits saying they are stressed, due to work (43%), money (49%), relationships and family (40%) as well as their physical health (28%). But music has been there for us this entire year whether it’s listening to your favourite playlists whilst; working from home, studying, doing your workouts or finding those tunes that get you through the daily house chores.

It has been found that listening to quality sounding music can really fix it all with it even being able to support our health. 65% say music has made a bigger impact on their fitness than any supplement, 68% say if they’re thinking about skipping a workout, music can help get them started and 61% say it makes them feel more confident around others whilst working out.

The recent survey commissioned by ultimate wireless home sound system Sonos has revealed that listening to quality sounding music is essential to human connection. Especially as we are currently stuck at home again, 68% say that music can connect their family and even ease any tension or arguments that may be brewing in their household (74%).

Aston spoke to Greg McAllister, Sonos Sounds experience manager to discuss the science behind why music really can just change our mood and why it’s been such a lifeline for so many this year.
