Armed robbery at Ballards Walk Newsagents

Police are appealing for witnesses to a robbery in Basildon.

Just after 3pm on Monday, December 3, a man entered the Martins Newsagents in Ballards Walk, Basildon, said he had a gun and demanded money.

The woman member of staff did not see any weapon and was uninjured. The man stole money from the till and made off on foot.

He is described as white, 5ft 3ins to 5ft 4ins tall, of medium build and aged in his mid 20s. He wore jeans and a dark short sleeved t-shirt, woolly hat, scarf and dark woollen gloves.

Firearms officers conducted a search of the area but did not trace the suspect.
