Did you witness Car Robbery in Brackendale Avenue?

Police are appealing for witnesses after a woman was robbed of her car as she returned home in the early hours of this morning, Friday, July 20.

It happened in Brackendale Avenue, Basildon, at about 1.30am this morning when a woman, aged in her 50s, was robbed of her handbag and car keys on her driveway and the two men then drove off in her silver BMW X5.

The two men were reported to have been hiding in a bush as the woman drove on to her driveway and grabbed her as she approached her front door.

The woman received minor injuries during a struggle with the suspects.

A neighbour of the woman alerted by her screams then pursued the vehicle. Police officers also gave chase along the A13 and then handed over to the Metropolitan Police when the vehicle entered London.

The car was later recovered in Ford Park Road, Canning Town, along with the woman’s handbag.

Patrols in the Brackendale Avenue area have been increased following this very rare incident and house to house enquiries are ongoing.
