Gateway 97.8 were able to attend the Barleylands Essex country show on the weekend. This was the 26th annual event and the weather ensured that more than 35,000 people attended the farming event in Billericay.
Both days had an incredible lineup. The sheep shearing, rope splicing and blacksmithing demonstrations proved to be popular with visitors. Main attractions pleased vehicle enthusiasts, with monster truck pulling taking place and a demonstration of vintage cars and steam engines.
There was a strong sense of the traditional farming world as vintage farming methods were demonstrated on farm animals. A large selection of meats and pies also pleased those in attendance who enjoy some homely food.
Overall, the event lived up to the country show status and was the most successful yet. The Gateway 97.8 team enjoyed attending the show and experiencing the celebrations of agricultural and farming history. Next years Essex country show is scheduled to take place on 14th and 15th September 2013.
