新年快乐 (Happy New Year)
@TylerPittaway & Producer Fraser back on air this weekend celebrating Chinese New Year!
To celebrate, we welcomed a pair of Chinese lions into the studio. They ate (and spat out again) a lettuce live on air – check out the clip from the show at the end of the blog post!
But that’s not all. We also had all of the usual features of the Coffee and Tea show:
On this day in music:
- 1964 – The Beatles scored their first No.1 best seller in the US when ‘I Want To Hold Your Hand’ reached the top of the Cash Box Magazine music chart
- 1975 – The Carpenters went to No.1 on the US singles chart with their version of The Marvelettes 1961 hit ‘Please Mr. Postman’
- 1986 – A-Ha were at No.1 in the UK with ‘The Sun Always Shines On TV’
In your celeb birthdays, we have:
- Jordan (from Rizzle Kicks), 28
- Alicia Keys, 39
- Jenifer Lewis, 63
For your trip back in time:
Gateway Gold is our feature we do around quarter-past and quarter-to hours during the day on Gateway 97.8. This week on the show, the system found these in the archive:
The Spencer Davis Group – Somebody Help Me
Carl Malcolm – Fatty Bum
Duran Duran – Rio
Everything But The Girl – Missing
Sophie Ellis Bextor – Murder on The Dancefloor
Robin Thicke – Blurred Lines
Listen to the Chinese lions in the studio live on today’s show!
And that’s all for today! Catch the show again on the Gateway listen again service, here!
That’s your lot for this week. Keep listening to Gateway, and we’ll be back with you soon! 🙂
