Listen: celebrating hairdressers

11th February 2022

Our hair is often the first thing we turn to when looking to make a change, boost our confidence, or prepare for a big life event. Therefore, it is no surprise that as a nation, we value our hairdressers immensely, as they are often always present at these crucial times.

In fact, over half (53%) of women consider their hairdresser a friend, with over a third (34%) of women saying they are now more aware of how good visiting the hair salon makes them feel since the pandemic. This could stem from the fact 74% of women say that having their hair done professionally supports their mental health, according to new research from L’Oréal’s Professional Products Division.

Ahead of Valentine’s Day – which will see many making a date with their salon – L’Oréal Professional Products Division are launching the #HairTheLove2022 campaign to shine a light on the essential role of hairdressers and how they impact people’s physical and mental wellbeing, every day.

The â€˜In The Hands of a Pro’ campaign will launch with a video featuring stories from the likes of Singer Songwriter Pixie Lott, TV Presenter Emma Willis, Singer Songwriter Will Young and Author and Broadcaster Lemn Sissay, who all value their hairdressers as they lift them up through challenging times, and discuss the importance of self-expression, empowerment, and trust.

Aston spoke to Millie Kendall MBE, CEO at British Beauty Council.
