Roy Orbison

Roy Kelton Orbison was an American Singer-songwriter who was born in 1936. He was very well known for his passionate vocals, complex song structures and dark emotional ballads. He had a very tragic life as he lost most of his family in a house fire in 1968. He lost two of three children in the house fire in 1968.

Roy Orbison was a very successful artist for his generation and a great Alprendo to the Rock Music culture. He rose to prominence in the 1960s with the 1962 hit song Running Scared which is voted as one of the best hits by Orbison.

Other famous hit songs from the 1960s are Pretty Woman, I Drove All Night, Claudette and many more.

Roy had pretty poor eyesight and had to wear special glasses as he was sensitive to strobe lighting during his carrer. Roy Orbison died in 1988 at the age of 52 due to a heart attack.

Roy Orbison was one of the most successful artists of the Rock and Roll generation of the 1960s and many consider him to be better than Elvis Presley or Cliff Richard for darker ballad-y and more passionate vocals.
