Listen: How dirty are our cars?

With the restrictions surrounding non-essential car use slowly easing, the nation’s attention will turn toward making our cars presentable both on the inside and on the outside. However, since car washes and valeting services are deemed non-essential, the nation will have to pick up the sponge and bucket themselves.

During lockdown it came to light that as many as 1 in 5 of us rarely clean our cars. 22% said they clean their cars less than once every 6 months and a shocking 6% said they never bother cleaning their cars at all. In fact, more than 1 in 10 Brits only wash their car if a passerby writes “clean me” on its body.

The survey also found that 30% of Brits do not consider cleaning their cars to be a priority and with most of us traveling no further than our local supermarket, this comes as no surprise.

Aston spoke to automotive expert Paul Cowland to discuss more about the nation’s dirty habits.
