Man dies in fatal road crash at A13 Stanford-le-Hope

Police have appealed for witnesses following a fatal road crash on the A13 near Stanford-le-Hope.

A driver died when his car was in collision with a heavy goods vehicle parked in a lay-by on the London-bound carriageway shortly before 11am.

Both carriageways were closed initially while emergency vehicles were called to the scene.

The eastbound carriageway reopened shortly after 12 noon but the London-bound carriageway will be opened and closed periodically to allow traffic to pass while police carry out investigations. The investigation is likely to last another three hours.
