Teenager Unprovoked Attack on Canvey

Police are appealing for witnesses or any information about an unprovoked assault on Canvey.

About 1pm on Thursday, October 11 a 16 year old teenage boy was assaulted in Mornington Road, Canvey Island close to Smallgains Park. He was attacked by two unknown men in broad daylight as he walked along the road. He was approached by the men, who without any provocation, attacked him.

The victim sustained a fractured eye socket, fractured cheekbone and a severe laceration to his face. He was treated at Southend Hospital and may require corrective plastic surgery for his injuries.

The first suspect is described as white, in his 30s, about 5ft 9ins tall, medium build with short black hair and the second suspect is described as a white, in his 30s, 6ft 2ins tall and a muscular build with short black hair.

PC Gary Jackets from the Serious Crime team at Southend said, “This was a frightening and unprovoked assault on a teenager who was unable to defend himself. I want to appeal to anyone who has any information that will identify these two attackers to contact police in Southend on 101 or via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
