Railway Hotel knocked down
Railway Hotel bulldozed
The Railway Hotel in Pitsea has been demolished to make way for the regeneration of the town, which includes a new Morrisons by Christmas 2014. Market traders have said it seems odd not to see the mock-tudor pub on the skyline but are looking forward to trading on the former Railway site as soon as possible

It’s that time of year again ! Another year older and another birthday road trip to indulge in, eating, drinking (Coke/Pepsi of course!) and listening to fab soul CDs in the car en route ! Except this time I went a week early due to a window of opportunity on the home/work front and planned a night at a BnB in Newquay after a nice long drive cross country with a scenic route to be followed home on Saturday with many stops along the way. Although the journey there went well, no major traffic problems and good driving weather, the minute I pulled up outside by seaside quest house it started raining – and refused to stop until it was nearly time for my head to hit the pillow. Wind was the main weather issue on day two but it didn’t stop me enjoying a much needed break from the usual scene – I won’t bore you with the finer details, just check the photos on Facebook !
As I said at the start, my actual birthday isn’t till next Monday, so I’ve already pre-recorded the next show so I can take Nathan out for a slap up meal without us having to rush back to the studio straight away. In the meantime, savour this week’s super soul selections on the repeat play this Saturday at 5pm and I will speakto you when I’m older …

BOXING
David Haye has been forced to pull out of his fight against Manuel Charr on June 29 with a hand injury.
The damage to his left hand occurred on Sunday evening and left the former WBA heavyweight champion with no option but to postpone his return to the ring. The news is a blow to Haye, who has not been in action since beating Dereck Chisora last summer and was hoping to fight twice this year in a bid to become mandatory challenger to one of the dominant Klitschko brothers.

Pirelli have accelerated plans to introduce changes to their controversial 2013 tyres, with the revisions to now be rolled out in time for the Canadian GP in two races’ time.
Under fire from both fans and drivers alike, Pirelli announced almost immediately after Sunday’s heavily-criticised Spanish GP that they would make changes to their range of compounds for the British GP at the end of June.
However, those changes to their slick tyres will now be introduced one race earlier – in Montreal – with Hembery revealing the amended rubber will feature structural changes which combine elements from both last year and this year’s products in a bid to beef up their durability

Snooker Sports News
Written by Alex Smith
First of all we will have a little discussion on snooker with Basildon born Stuart Bingham earlier in the month making it to the quarter final of the Snooker World Championship. Shamefully he was knocked out after being thrashed by that years championship winner, Ronnie O’Sullivan by 13-4. Despite that Bingham has still managed to reach 6th in the Snooker World Rankings after a truly amazing season from the Basildon boy, which is the highest ranking position he has ever reached within the sport.
Within the Snooker World Championship itself, because Bingham was seeded within the top 16, he automatically qualified for the main event. It all started very well for Bingham having demolished Crucible debutant Sam Baird 10-2 in the first round (last 32) to progress to the last 16. In the second round (last 16) Mark David, who knocked out four time World Champion John Higgins, gave Bingham more to think about, but in the end proved to be too strong, winning three frames in a row to clinch it to claim he first ever Snooker World Championship quarter final place, where he would face defending champions Ronnie Sullivan.
Considering Ronnie O’Sullivan has been out of the sport for the whole season, he looked like the player to beat and you had to be at the top of your game to do that. Shamefully for Bingham he was far from his best that day and spent most of his time in his chair admiring O’Sullivan’s best of the tournament snooker. Bingham could hardly even get a frame on the board, and ended up being badly beat 13-4. Of course Ronnie O’Sullivan went on to win his fifth world championship later that month, but refuses to guarantee he will return next to defend his title.
As for Bingham he will be back and will hope he can possibly reach the next level, because this has by far been Bingham’s best season in him snooker career, no questions asked. Stuart Bingham this season won the Premier League as well as the Pink Ribbon Pro-Am Charity tournament & the first Asian PTCof the season. Hopefully Stuart Bingham can make that next step and continue winning some of the events he attends.
Stuart Bingham – Snooker World Championship 2012/13 Results.
First Round (Last 32)
Stuart Bingham (Eng) 10-2 Sam Baird (Eng)
Second Round (Last 16)
Mark Davis (Eng) 10-13 Stuart Bingham (Eng)
Quarter Final
